The Buddha is seated in the Dhyana mudrā or 'Meditation Position'. This hand gesture promotes the energy of meditation, deep contemplation and unity with higher energy. Behind him stands the protective Naga. The Thai symbol for those born on a Saturday. The base of the stupa also consists of the seated Buddha & Naga in a state of meditation. Encircling the Stupa are further Naga serpents providing protection to the Stupa. The Stupa is formed from two separate, interlocking parts. Provenance: Ex- UK Collection.
